The Bart Bishop Memorial Fund

My dad (Bart) didn't ever have much money, but what little he had he often donated to various political and environmental organizations.

So, in lieu of sending flowers for his death, please consider donating to The Bart Bishop Memorial Fund. All money donated to the Fund will pay for Bart's memorial services. All extra money will be donated, in Bart's name, to Green For All, a national non-profit organization devoted to building a green economy focused on providing jobs and lifting members of low-income communities out of poverty.

On top of this, because my dad's greatest love and passion was music, all who donate will be sent his latest CD, Bartholomew Bishop.

To contribute to the fund, click on the link below...

By the way, few things made my dad more proud or were more exciting to him than the thought of people listening to his music. So, if it turns out you do not have any money to contribute, simply email me (grahampbishop@gmail.com) and I will send you his music.

Special thanks to the following people for their generous contributions to The Bart Bishop Memorial Fund (this list will be continually updated):

Memories!

Friends/Family:

Bart, my dad, was often the life of the party. As a result, I am SURE that you all have lots and lots of pictures and memories to share...

So, respond to this post with any and all memories you have of my dad. If this is too confusing, click HERE to post pictures and comments on the Facebook Bart Bishop Memorial Project page. Once there, simply respond to the 'memories' thread OR click on the photos section to post pictures.

If, for some reason, both of these options don't work, please email your memories and pictures to me ( grahampbishop@gmail.com ) and I will take care of everything. By the way, the above picture is of me at age one in my dad's arms - it's one of my very favorites...

Details about the memorial service will be posted as soon as they are known. At the memorial service, your pictures and memories will be prominently displayed.

So, respond to this post ASAP so that I can include your memories/thoughts/pictures at the memorial!

Love,

Graham

Calling All Artists!

To those who knew and loved Bart (my dad):

Above all else, my dad inspired/encouraged/demanded creativity in all areas of his life - whether this meant constantly singing songs and coming up with tongue twisters about the mundane act of walking to elementary school (he did this constantly - my friends hated/loved it!), or writing beautifully crafted pop songs, my dad could not physically think a thought or a say a word that was void of creativity. Of the very many characteristics that I truly adored about my dad, this was one of my very favorites.

So, I am asking everyone ("we are all artists," my dad would say) to use this terribly sad and unexpected event to create something/anything.

Whether it be a song, drawing, painting, short story, rhyming couplet, haiku, piece of interpretive dance, yodel, delicious dish (yes, food can be art), or anything else artsy that I have left out, create it, make it, build it, sing it, dance it NOW!

I know that this sounds a little silly, but my dad was silly and he would have wanted us to do this.

Please respond with your piece of art to this post OR email me ( grahampbishop@gmail.com ) your response and I will post it on this site.

Love,

Graham

Art inspired by my Dad:

Kathy Swope:

Hi Graham

Every year on Father's Day we plant sunflowers in honor of my dad. He was from Kansas and they were his favorite. Here is a picture I took of one of the blossoms. They are such happy flowers, I can't see one without smiling.

I figured photography was creative and sent this in honor of your dad.

See you tomorrow.

With love--Kathy (Bill, too)

Bonnie Gordon:

Hi Graham,

Your memorial and Jodi's slideshow is wonderful. You and your family have such sweet hearts. I know your Dad will always be so proud of you and all that you create.

In Honor of Bart...where to start!

Not a score did I create, nor a dish did I bake
when inspiration came regarding a name
for our new puppy Bartley

With Love,

Bonnie Gordon
